Post it on the front of your refrigerator and eat the healthy foods often that are listed on the Health side. The foods listed under Disease, try to avoid.

Another healthy tip is eat all the colors of the rainbow:

ORANGE: carrots, pumpkin, oranges, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, peaches, apricots, mango

YELLOW: squash, corn, legumes, lemons, banana, eggs, grapefruit, mushrooms, pineapple, sesame seeds, macadamia nuts, cashews, peanuts, quinoa, chickpeas, almonds, pecans, walnuts, brown rice, ginger, beans

GREEN: peppers, cabbage, beans, limes, spinach, kale, honeydew melon, avocado, pears, pesto, celery, zucchini, swiss chard, asparagus, broccoli, collard greens, brussels sprouts, beet greens, olives, kiwi fruit, peas

PURPLE: blueberries, blackberries, currants, beets, red cabbage, eggplant, grapes, plums

WHITE: potatoes, tofu, onions, garlic, cauliflower, whole oats, quinoa, fresh yogurt

When you eat food that is healthy and stay away from unhealthy foods, you are eating right and you could be free of aches and pain, have mental clarity, stable moods, accelerated learning, low health care costs, reproductive health, clear and smooth skin, heal easily, rarely sick, sleep soundly, have sustained energy and generally be happy.

When you fill your diet with mostly unhealthy foods you will experience chronic pain, behavioral disorders, aggressive behavior, learning disabilities, high medical bills, reproductive disorders, skin blemishes and spots, easily injured, frequently sick, sleep disorders, tired and fatigued and irritable.

And we have been told that we should eat 5 - 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. It is now recommended that we eat 9 - 13 servings a day. Think about it......if we ate that many servings a day, we wouldn't be hungry for much else!

My saying has always been: “The closer to nature the food, the better it is for you!” That is eating well! Anytime food is processed, it is devoid of the nutrients and enzymes that our bodies need. Processed food nearly always has additives, colorings, sugar, hydrogenated oils, chemicals, preservatives and so on. You get the picture.

Don’t know where to start??? Go to the Healthy Recipes page and try at least one new healthy food recipe a week. You will be eating right and eating well!

And, one more thing! Snacking was a big issue with me, as it is for many people. Have healthy food snacks available ALL THE TIME so when that urge hits, you have something to grab.

And another one more thing! If you stay away from high glycemic foods, those cravings for unhealthy snacks diminish.
