Editor and Coach

| As editor and coach of this website, I hope you will find what you need to live and enjoy a healthier life. I'm known to many, as Momma Duck, being that I am the oldest of 7 siblings. I tend to take people under my wing, give them positive reinforcement and encourage them because they have the capacity to accomplish whatever they set their mind to. |
We are constantly faced with challenges in our every day life that make it tough to improve or maintain our health and wellness. This can include things like: losing weight, eating better, getting fit or managing our stress and health risks. We need a new approach...not a quick fix! So many of us are sick and tired of being sick and tired! A healthy lifestyle is an ongoing process. I am not perfect with my healthy diet however each and every day I am learning and growing and incorporating the things that I research and learn. It is all about balance and not perfection. We fail when we try to be perfect. Momma Duck as Editor and Coach, is here to research and help you in an effort to create the healthy lifestyle you’re striving for and work with you to accomplish your goals. I have ongoing training in health and wellness and my life experiences are my best teacher.
| So why did this become a passion of mine? In the early 1980’s, my father was only in his 50’s and he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Surgery was performed and the doctors said there was nothing more they could do for him, sent him home and gave him a year. In the meantime, my parents came in contact with someone who had put their cancer in remission with a macrobiotic diet. My mother and father decided to give it a try. My mom would stand in the kitchen crying because it was such a foreign way to cook, and she didn’t know what she was doing and only had some papers and notes to go by. It was the toughest thing my mom ever tried to do. However, it put my dad’s cancer in remission, he lost weight, gained energy and looked the best we had ever seen him! It was at that time, I realized that what we eat and drink has a drastic impact on our health! Now I admit, that particular diet was going to the other extreme and it was a lifestyle that changed drastically overnight. "Remember....an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Which means a little precaution before a crisis occurs is preferable to a lot of fixing up afterward." We can make our changes for a healthy diet at a different pace. So let’s find a healthy diet that the average person can live with. Back to my parents………They gradually went back to old habits and didn’t want to make that drastic choice again and they each died of cancer in their late 60’s and early 70’s. Over the years I have tried many “diets” and what I have found is that the Mediterranean Diet, which is a Low Glycemic Diet is one of the best healthy diets. However, I don't like to use the word "diet" because at some point…..you come off a diet (like my parents because it was a diet, not a lifestyle). It needs to be a lifestyle, but also one we can live with. |
My goal as Editor and Coach, is to give you enough researched information that you can make healthy changes, one change at a time or one day at a time and my mission is to create a positive and healthy influence in the lives of those I meet and coach!
